What is Spiritual Counseling with Energy Healing? In the journey one takes, there are times of hardship, times when there is a deep, inner urging or calling to become more. On this unpredictable path a forceful drive may surface, steering one in new directions that are congruent with essence and yet contrary to expectation. In any healing process there are times when progress may come to a halt. This can reflect the organic nature of healing, but in certain circumstances it can be attributed to physical, emotional, energetic, or ideological blocks. When halting occurs, it is possible that one is being invited into deeper realms of healing, where greater potentials can be realized. If this is the case, spiritual counseling with energy healing may be a helpful interim treatment or addition to your current therapy. I have combined components of traditional mental health practice with energy healing to explore with clients the basis of resistant discomfort, persistent illness, and seemingly unresponsive dis-ease. While journeying into deeper levels of consciousness, the soul becomes the guide in a process that can once again, make greater healing possible. This approach assists by gently processing emotion while sustaining the essence of one’s being. It is a holistic methodology that recognizes the importance of support for the physical, emotional & spiritual elements.
What do you do during spiritual counseling sessions? We talk. We figure out your goals and the best ways to work toward them together. What is unique about receiving counseling with me is that I utilize the optional adjunct tools of energy healing. These tools help to create an approach that accesses mind, body and spirit simultaneously. If you do not live near where you can come to my office, phone consultations, e-mail consultations and distance healing sessions are available.
What do you do when you provide energy healing? It is not uncommon for traumatizing, or unpleasant experiences to lodge in the body on a physical level. Energy healing can assist with gently releasing these events or feelings as we discuss them. Each practitioner has his or her own style. These styles are both personal/individual and are reflective of the type of body-work practiced and the teacher who provided the instruction. What happens in a spiritual counseling session where energy healing is added ordinarily entails my holding your head or laying light hands on other areas that one or both of us may be guided to address. I will often use guided imagery or discussion during energy healing sessions. It is not massage and it is not manipulation of tissue. You may notice or experience movement in your body or in mine. This is the energetic process and your body or mine adjusting to or experiencing this energy. Your body and your inner being know what is best for you. I am here more as a conduit of the energy and as a coach to teach you how to access and utilize this energy on your own. You will find that it is difficult to explain to others. It is experiential in nature. And it is important to keep in mind that this is my style/approach and will vary from practitioner to practitioner. You should not feel pain. If anything is uncomfortable or painful, let me know immediately. Many people enter a very deep state of relaxation during this and it is not unusual to snore. I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Our work together may improve health through our combined positive intention, the medicinal benefits of learning deep relaxation and the release of toxic emotions.
You are a Reiki Master/Teacher. What is Reiki? Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for relaxation that also promotes healing. It is done through touch or non-touch. A warm and soothing energy flows from the hands of the practitioner to the client, promoting relaxation and releasing tension. It is a form of energy work or body-work and is just one of many styles or methods to achieve similar results.
What is a “Healing Reaction”? After a Reiki or energy treatment, you may experience symptoms such as headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, or emotional upset. This is sometimes called a “Healing Reaction” and is usually an indication that the body is detoxifying itself in preparation for healing. It is also an indication that more Reiki or energy work may be indicated. Should a reaction occur, drink plenty of water, get lots of rest, and generally be kind to yourself (ie, not pushing to do more than you feel is wise). Such symptoms happen infrequently and typically dissipate within 24-48 hours. Please call me if you have questions or concerns. It is possible, although not common, to feel a little worse before you feel better. Knowing this in advance should assist you with allowing extra time for the healing process to unfold.
What about payment for services? Please pay at time of service. I do not bill clients. If you do not live near where you can come to my office, phone consultations, e-mail consultations and distance healing sessions are available. The cost per hour remains the same, and payment, in the form of cashier’s check or money order would have to be received prior to our consultation/session. I am not set up at this time to accept credit card payments. I have been blessed by others throughout my life and it is my desire to pay those blessings forward. It is my desire to trust in others and in God. To that end, please know that you may discuss special circumstances with me that may require you to divide payments over time, prevent you from paying my full fee, or from paying at all. Money should not to be a factor in your decision to receive treatment from me. I trust that those receiving service understand the reality of my need to cover expenses and make a living, while keeping services available to anyone who needs them regardless of ability to pay. Some may feel called to pay extra to support my work and/or may choose to donate a monthly tithe (whether or not they are currently receiving services) to support my work and to assist those who can pay little or nothing. Gift Certificates are also available.
Why do you charge so much? My fee is based on my level of training, skill and what comparable services cost. It is also based on the level of energy required for sessions, which prohibits me from carrying an industry-standard client caseload or working a 40-hour week. I combine at least two healing modalities, which, if accessed separately through multiple service providers, could cost much more. Typically, you will require fewer sessions, you will book them as needed episodically, and can schedule in such a way to work with your budget. I work on a quality, not quantity basis. Typically, I see no more than two clients a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). This gives me the flexibility to spend extra time with clients if they so choose. Energy healing can, at times, be extremely taxing and depleting to the practitioner, so extra care is taken to get ample rest and space between sessions. Sessions currently run $100 per hour and session length varies from between 1-3 hours. Discuss with me in advance your budgetary and time constraints.
Can you bill my insurance? No. In order to do that, I would need additional licensure that is both expensive and more restrictive. Unfortunately, payments, tithes or donations are not tax deductible either. However, check with your tax preparation consultant since it may be possible for counseling to be deducted as part of your combined medical expenses for the year.
How do I make an appointment? Call 541-910-5746 or contact me via e-mail. I will return your call/e-mail to schedule an appointment with you. Be sure to leave a message, as the phone is not answered in person. We might meet only once, or we may choose to meet more regularly for a time. Plan on your first visit taking two hours. This allows us to do paperwork, answer questions, decide together on your treatment goals, and for you to receive your integrative session. Many people find that they need the time for discussion both before and after a body-work session and a little time to regain full attention from the depth of the relaxation they experience. Once you have a better idea of how your session will impact you, you may decide to schedule a one, one and one half, or two hour session. The minimum is one hour. Charges are according to time utilized. I do not schedule appointments in the early mornings, evenings or on weekends. I reserve this as my family time.
What kind of records do you keep about me? It is my intention to keep minimal records. I want to spend my time with you, rather than doing paperwork. Minimal record keeping also protects your rights to as much privacy as possible. It is just one of many benefits of being neither a non-profit organization nor governed by licensing boards or insurance companies who have more extensive documentation requirements. My intention is to keep only those records that assist me in remembering what we are working on, or your basic background information. It is also my intention to thin files regularly to destroy any information that is no longer needed. I have an open file policy for clients; you may see/read/copy whatever I have on record about you at any time. Since I worked in medical social work for a period of time, I have had both counseling and medical level training regarding HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations for patient privacy.
