Water Dragon in the house!
-

Zach's Lizard Land Welcomes Buddy, the Water Dragon to the troops!

- Buddy is a "baby" water dragon... Right now he lives in a 65 gallon glass aquarium, with a screen covered top. He has a basking light and an ultraviolet light above the screen, and they keep the temperature at a constant 80-84 degrees. There is a temperature gauge at the top of the cage, and another at the bottom. He has a soaking dish at all times because he likes a lot of water, and I change it often. I also mist the cage several times a day to keep the humidity up.
Buddy, the Water Dragon
Buddy weighs in at 1.5oz - I gave him a nice smooth piece of wood to bask and climb on, and a big leafy green plant to crawl around in, and hide behind. He loves that!

Buddy's pretty small right now, he only weighs 1.5 ounces. But he's a big eater! He loves crickets and earthworms, and he eats quite a few every day!

-I think he's a male water dragon, but I'm not sure yet. At the rate he eats, he should grow pretty quickly, so I'll keep you posted on that!

- When I first got Buddy, he did a lot of banging his nose against the glass, and was doing some damage to his snout. Then I covered the lower part of his cage with an aquarium print, so he feels more secure now, and he can see there's something there so he doesn't try to jump through it. You can see it in the pictures on the next page. He really likes to sit and look at himself in the mirrors I put around his cage, especially when he's taking a soak!
