CITY OF ELGIN, OREGON 
                   RESOLUTION  1051 (1998)


         A RESOLUTION OF INTEREST REGARDING SITING A
             WOMEN'S PRISON FACILITY IN THE CITY



WHEREAS:  The State Oregon is seeking sites for a women's prison facility, and;

WHEREAS:  The City of Elgin has an interest in having such a facility located in
the City;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the City of Elgin hereby requests the
State of Oregon Department of Corrections to consider sites in and around the
City of Elgin for a women's prison facility and that the Department of Corrections
work with the City in investigating the suitability of the City for such a facility
and to prepare any applications necessary for the location of such a facility.
