How can HIV infection be diagnosed? There are accurate blood tests that tell if a person has been infected with HIV. These tests are called "HIV Antibody Tests". Testing and counseling for HIV are available at clinics and doctor's offices. Tests can be anonymous and may be free or low-cost at public health departments and other test sites.
